3.3 3G and 4G
3G is the third generation standard for mobile technology, often referred to as Mobile Broadband. 3G protocols allow for higher data rates than 2G, with bandwidth measured in Mbps, and additional applications and services for users. Typical 3G applications include video telephony and full Internet access.
Certain countries, such as Japan and South Korea, have been quicker to adopt the 3G standards because of positive support from government and low licensing fees.
